A Legacy Begins
In 1960, our story began in the heart of Fresno, California, when Alex “Pappy” Papulias established Pappy Meat Company. As a wholesale meat supplier in the San Joaquin Valley, Pappy laid the foundation for what would become a beloved family business. His vision was simple yet powerful: to provide quality products that brought people together around the table.
When Pappy passed away in 1981, it was his wife, Marie, and their children—four sons and a daughter—who stepped up to navigate the challenges of an increasingly competitive market. It was during this time that Edward, the youngest son, took a leap of faith that would change the course of the family business forever.
A New Direction
While attending college, Edward saw the potential to shift focus from wholesale meat to specialty seasonings and sauces. With determination and limited capital, he launched Pappy’s Choice Seasoning in 1985, distributing to a handful of local supermarkets under the newly minted name, Pappy’s Fine Foods, Inc.
Edward’s commitment to quality and flavor shone through as he developed each product. He poured his knowledge of spices and culinary traditions into crafting seasonings that were not only delicious but also free from many of the additives and preservatives commonly found in grocery store products. Today, we proudly offer over 25 made-to-order seasoning and sauce options, all stemming from that original vision.
Continuing the Legacy
Edward Papulias stands as the heart and soul of Pappy's Fine Foods. As CEO, he has worked tirelessly to expand our reach while staying true to the core values instilled by his father. Pappy’s seasonings have become a staple in households across the Central Valley and beyond, bringing families together for unforgettable meals.
By collaborating with grocery store chains, distributors, and food service providers, Edward has ensured that our products remain accessible to everyone who cherishes great taste. He continues to innovate, helping other companies launch their seasoning lines while maintaining the quality that Pappy’s is known for.
